Cadets and staff from 96 (Dewsbury) Squadron, Air Training Corps welcomed their donation of a brand new pool table from local MP Shahid Malik last week.

The Dewsbury MP won the table last year when he retained the House of Commons Pool Championship for the third year running.

Two years ago Mr Malik cut the ribbon to open the brand new purpose built Squadron Headquarters on Vulcan Road, unveiling a plaque to commemorate the occasion.

The squadrons Commanding Officer of almost 29 years, Flight Lieutenant Alan Curtis, said: “We can’t thank Mr Malik enough for this wonderful gift of a pool table, it will be well used by the cadets for many years to come."

Shahid Malik, who is also patron of The Royal British Legion (Dewsbury), said: “It was great to pop in and see the cadets again. They are a real credit to the area and Alan and the staff deserve the highest praise for the work they do with young men and women in Dewsbury.”
